Collab Round

(For more information on how the collab round works, see Collab Round. For information on submission format, see Round Work Guidelines and Round Media Limitations.)

The short version is that scoring is doubled for the collab round.

All teams that submit a collab round entry will receive 500 points.

The fifteen teams to advance to Final Vote receive an additional 500 points.

After that, the top ten teams in the collab round receive additional points as follows:

  • 10th: +100 (1,100 points total for the round)

  • 9th: +200 (1,200 points total)

  • 8th: +300 (1,300 points total)

  • 7th: +400 (1,400 points total)

  • 6th: +500 (1,500 points total)

  • 5th: +600 (1,600 points total)

  • 4th: +700 (1,700 points total)

  • 3rd: +800 (1,800 points total)

  • 2nd: +900 (1,900 points total)

  • 1st: +1,000 (2,000 points total for the round)

Bonus Rounds

For prompts: 5 points each (maximum of 50 points per team)

For fills:

  • First 3 fills by your team in each bonus round: 30 points each
  • Fills 4-8: 25 points each
  • Fills 9-13: 20 points each
  • Fills 14-18: 15 points each
  • Fills 19-23: 10 points each
  • Fills 24-35: 5 points each (max of 500 points per team in total)
  • Fills 36+ are not for points, but purely for fun!

During HSWC 2013, Team Noir bonus round fills could earn points for other competing teams. The hope was that this would give Team Noir incentive to participate in the bonus rounds. This rule has been removed as of HSWC 2014 because it didn't encourage much (if any) Noir activity and it creates unecessary stress for the mods.

Main Round Scoring vs. Bonus Round Scoring

Main Rounds last roughly one month, and Bonus Rounds are posted every two weeks (or, there are roughly two bonus rounds per month). Based on this, two maxed out bonus rounds (or, a solid month of team effort) is worth very slightly more than placing first in a main round (or, a solid month of team effort). Therefore, it's worth paying attention to both bonus and main rounds.

Additionally: please try to leave comments on your fellow participants' entries and fills! You won't receive points for it, but they'd love to receive feedback on their hard work.
